As an active musician for nearly thirty years, he has released eight studio albums in addition to collaborating with a wide variety of artists and is known for playing in the band Mr. Big. Howe has also played in several other bands, including Gamma, Mob Rules, and The Firm. He has released several solo albums and has also done some work as a producer.

In this article, I’ll tell you all about Greg Howe’s life and his career as a musician. I’ll also mention some of his biggest songs.

Greg Howe: A Multi-Instrumentalist Musician

A Recording Debut

Greg Howe is a Vermont-based musician who’s made quite a name for himself with his original compositions in a wide range of styles. In 2013, he released his first CD, Too Much of You, which he wrote, engineered, and mixed himself. He also plays a variety of instruments on the record, including guitar, mandolin, bass, lap steel, piano, organ, harmonica, and percussion. He was joined by Alice Charkes and Olivia Howe on alto saxophone, and Arthur Davis on trumpet.

Inspired by Costa Rica

Greg’s most recent project, Pachira, was inspired by a trip to Costa Rica. He takes a departure from his usual musical forms and dives into Latin rhythms and instrumentation. The compositions were written right after he returned from his trip and feature melodies and textures played on classical guitar, requinto, claves, and shekere. Chris Smith joins him on bongos.

The Nitrocats

Greg performs regularly as part of a trio called The Nitrocats.

Mastering with Sovereignty Music Services

Greg entrusts Tommy Byrnes of Sovereignty Music Services in Bernardston, MA to master his CDs.
