Hi I'm Joost and I'm here today with the Layrite cement clay and matte cream
0:03
Okay so these are both matte finishes here, although the cement clay is a little bit more matte
0:08
So this matte cream is a lot wetter when it's in the tin. A lot wetter than the clay
0:13
But the actual difference on the hair doesn't make that much of a difference
0:17
The largest difference here is in the hold. The Layrite natural matte cream, and this really is a medium hold
0:24
Well, I would say it says medium hold right here, but I would say light hold
0:29
And it has a really matte finish. You can see that here, that it doesn't really hold all of my hair up
0:38
The way like some other pomades do, but it's great for a messy hair look
0:42
And I'll get into that in a minute. Now it smells very manly, maybe a little bit coconutty
0:48
And I think all of the Layrite products smell the same. And you can keep smelling that smell all day, even longer than your cologne
0:55
And this is a very wet and creamy substance. So this is very wet, wetter than the pomades
1:03
So that made me think that this would give a wet look, but it's actually a matte look
1:07
a matte finish with a light hold. And because it's quite wet, what I like to do is get a little onto my hands
1:13
and then spread that out across my hands, because otherwise you will get these wide big lumps in your hair
1:19
And then I go through my hair and I like to wear my hair up. So I'm trying this out to see if this can keep my hair up and spiky
1:26
And then I take out just a little bit extra and do the back and sides of my hair, just to make sure that that stays up all day
1:32
Now it isn't the best for holding up my spiky and thin hair
1:36
because it has a light hold, but it is perfect for getting like a messy look
1:41
So I also test this out on my son's hair, which is a little bit longer
1:45
And I use it to move the hair to the side. And the advantage here is that you can go through the hair all day
1:52
Without it being sticky or crunchy like with a gel. And so it has a matte finish and still a little bit hold
1:59
but you can get a cool messy effect, which is also perfect for an out of bed look
2:03
I wouldn't recommend this to people who want to shape their hair in a particular way
2:09
but it's perfect for those who want a messy look. The Layrite Cement Clay, and it really does its name justice, cement
2:16
And they say here it holds like wax and washes out like gel
2:20
So that's pretty much it. It smells delicious. And you can also wash this out just with a little shampoo
2:26
But the hold is amazing. It says matte finish. It is a little bit more like a wet finish here and there than some of the other ones
2:36
Some are more matte and they are more like for a out of bed look or a really messy kind of hair
2:42
And this is like a little bit more like the slick look. As you can see, it's a little bit more slick here and there than some of the other ones
2:52
And the look is also incredible. It has this nice design with the woman sitting here in like a barbershop setting
2:58
And the golden cap is amazing as well. So that's the first thing that attracted me to this
3:03
And of course the cement clay that's on here. And the matte finish, which is what I'm testing right now
3:10
And some of the products with the best matte finishes. Now this one does have an incredible look to it
3:19
But it's a little bit more shiny than some of the other matte finishes
3:23
So if you want a completely matte finish, then this product maybe isn't the right fit for you
3:27
As you can see, you have to scrape a little bit out
3:35
And then mold that in your hands. Now what I do is I take a little out and then rub that all over my hands
3:41
And then do my full hair. I like to wear it up. So I need to create some spikes here and there
3:46
And then take a little bit extra and use that to do the sides and the back of my hair
3:52
Just a little bit extra. So that stays in place all day. And the advantage of this clay here is that you can wash it out easily
3:58
But also that if your hair doesn't look the way you want it anymore during the day
4:02
You can just easily rub your hands through it. And then mold it back into shape just a little bit more
4:07
And it also doesn't harden like with a gel. So this is like a wax, but without the extreme stickiness of waxes
4:14
It also smells amazing. It's a little bit like a more Metro Man kind of smell
4:19
Just like with the Uppercut brand. Where there are also more rugged type of smells
4:23
Like the Reusel brand for example. And I think this one is more like to the Metro Man kind of side
4:29
You can also wear this in your hair and then not using any cologne. And still smell great all day
4:34
Now for my shorter hair, it can give me those nice spikes that I like. And for my son's hair, which is a little bit longer
4:40
I can easily mold this to one side. And make a few little adjustments to make sure every hair falls in the right place
4:46
So I really recommend this for anyone looking for a matte finish
4:51
But not really matte and not messy hair. But still a way to sculpt your hair exactly the way you want it
