Hi I'm Joost and I'm here with the American Crew Defining Paste and it's a little bit more messy like an out of bed look
0:06
and it doesn't have a great big shine to it but it isn't completely matte as well
0:11
It's a great paste if you want that messy look but not so much if you want to have a slick look
0:15
and every hair placed in exactly the right place the way you want it
0:19
This is a bit between a wet gel and a matte clay
0:24
It's a defining paste is what they call it and it's hard and gooey
0:29
It's a bit gooey when it's inside the tin but once you get it out it immediately becomes like a wet substance
0:35
Way more than like a matte clay but it still gives a matte defining texture
0:40
Now the hold isn't as good as some of the other products I've tested on my short and thin hair
0:45
so it's not that great to hold it up all day but it does give a nice matte definition to the hair
0:52
even though the substance is quite wet. They call this perfect for frizz control and it does give a little shine
0:58
but it's also a conditioner and moisturizing cream. Now to use it I just put a little bit on my hand and then make sure I rub that all over my hand
1:05
so I don't get one great big lump because this can be a bit lumpy and then I just go through
1:10
all my hair and rub it in and then I take a little bit extra and rub that on the sides
1:16
and the back of my hair just to make sure that it holds into place as well. I can get a pretty good definition here and make the hair stand the way I like it
1:24
although the hold isn't that great. It worked a lot better for my son's hair which is a little bit longer to get it to stand to the side
1:31
and get that to keep in place than to mold your hair in a really particular way like with my shorter hair
1:37
So all in all this is a great product if you have a little bit harder hair to work with
1:41
and to get that into shape the foliage way you want it instead of a clay or paste that keeps your hair up
